What is network fabric?

Network fabric is a private network that links your servers, clusters, and cloud resources into a trusted network domain. It removes jitter, congestion, and public-internet exposure by moving workload traffic onto a dedicated, encrypted transport layer.

For more complex environments, multiple fabrics can be used to isolate workloads. As companies scale or adopt hybrid cloud, multiple fabrics maintain stable communication and easier remote access.

With dynamic scaling, centralized management, and built-in resilience, network fabrics provide a reliable foundation for modern distributed applications.

Global private fabric FAQ

Global Private Fabric is a secure, private network that connects your infrastructure, applications, and users across regions and cloud environments—without exposing data to the public internet. Global Private Fabric is currently available for Liquid Web’s cloud VPS, bare metal, and cloud metal hosting solutions.

In most cases, private network and network fabric refer to the same concept. “Network fabric” is simply a more technical term. A private network is a secure, isolated network that keeps your traffic off the public internet. A network fabric describes the underlying architecture that makes that private network possible.

Most environments can be fully onboarded in days—not weeks. Deployment is streamlined through automated provisioning and requires minimal configuration for your IT team.

Unlike public internet or VPN-based connectivity, Global Private Fabric allows for multi-region private networks to be deployed simply and near instantly, without the complexity of hardware based network designs. You can still connect external networks via VPN, but your core infrastructure runs on a dedicated private backbone. Global Private Fabric’s VPN interconnection feature then allows you to join any number of networks into your fabrics at Liquid Web.

Network management falls to Liquid Web customers, but our 24/7 support team can provide expertise, guidance, and implementation for Global Private Fabric.

The Liquid Web global private backbone, which powers our Global Private Fabric, is a private, dedicated network that spans Liquid Web’s global data centers. It connects your infrastructure—including bare metal servers, cloud servers, multi-region deployments, and remote users—into a single secure, isolated network.
